History CONAF/FENAF
Forty years ago and, therefore, ten years after ABIFA’s foundation, the Association organizes its first congress.
The I CONBRAFUND – Brazilian Foundry Congress, was held between 19th and 23th November 1979, at São Paulo Hilton Hotel. The theme discussed among the 12 speakers was: The Brazilian Industrial Moment.
From then on, ABIFA organizes this congress every two years.
In 1991, with 36 lecturers and 400 registrants, CONBRAFUND is now called CONAF – National Foundry Congress.
Two editions later, in 1995 the congress becomes international, but its nomenclature changed just in 2009 to CONAF – ABIFA Foundry Congress. In 2019, it completes 18 editions.
The 1st FENAF – Castings, Supplies and Foundry Equipment Exhibition was held in 1982 at the Maksoud Plaza Hotel (SP), in parallel with the 2nd CONBRAFUND.
That year, 16 companies participated in the fair.
In 2005 and 2007, the nomenclature FENAF – South American Foundry Fair is assumed, due to the presence of companies mainly from Argentina, Peru and Paraguay among the exhibitors.
In 2009, with Mexico joining the event, FENAF is now called Latin American Foundry Fair and has remained that way ever since.
